“One big happy family.”
That’s how JLP Caretaker for North East St. Ann, Senator Matthew Samuda, has described life in the constituency following the success of his councillors in last week’s local government elections.
Mahiri Stewart has that report.
All four of the JLP’s councillors were victorious in Senator Samuda’s North East St. Ann constituency. These are the Lime Hall, St. Ann’s Bay, Ocho Rios, and Exchange divisions.
Speaking on Nationwide at Five, Senator Samuda highlighted a second consecutive win in the Lime Hall division as a first for the JLP.
Senator Samuda was officially installed as the JLP’s standard bearer for North East St. Ann in November last year. He will contest the seat in the next general elections, replacing the current member of parliament, Marsha Smith.
Before Smith, North East St. Ann was represented by the late Shahine Robinson. Senator Samuda admits that filling Shahine’s shoes is not an easy task.
