Government senator, Abka Fitz-Henley, is challenging the claim by People’s National Party, PNP, president, Mark Golding that he was not involved in the FINSAC saga.

Golding made the comment at a PNP media conference last week.

Shaloy Smikle reports.

The FINSAC era refers to the near collapse of Jamaica’s financial system in the 1990s.

During his recent contribution to the budget debate, Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness hinted that members of the opposition benefitted from favourable deals linked to FINSAC through investment bank Dehring, Bunting and Golding, DB&G.

Golding was a partner in DB&G.

But according to the Opposition Leader, he had no role in FINSAC whatsoever. Mr Golding says he was an ordinary businessman, who at the time had to navigate a difficult situation like any other.

But Senator Fitz-Henley says this is not true.

Senator Fitz-Henley says public record shows that payments were made to DB&G during the FINSAC era.

Senator Fitz Henley continued.

Senator Fitz-Henley says the evidence proves that Golding is not fit to lead the nation.
