Coach of Jamaica’s national senior women’s football team, Hubert Busby, says the 3-2 win against South Africa in their International Friendly at the Montego Bay Sports complex is a true reflection of how competitive the game was on Monday night.
Linda Motlhalo gave the visitors a half-time lead in the 19th minute.
But, the Reggae Girlz equalised in the 58th minute thanks to Vyan Sampson. Then Drew Spence added a second goal to give Jamaica a 63rd minute lead.
It was 3-1 in the 76th minute thanks to Kayla McKenna after a defensive error. Despite Amogelang Motau pulling one back, Jamaica held on to win 3-2.
Busby says the match tested the Girlz mental and physical strength.
On Saturday, in the first of the two-game match friendly, Jamaica beat South Africa 3-0. That friendly also took place in Montego Bay.
Busby says Western Jamaica were gracious hosts.
