3 months ago 21

The Supreme Court has struck out two election petition cases brought by the JLP following the February 26 Local Government election.

The divisions at the centre of the cases were the Kintyre Division of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation and the Ginger Ridge Division in The St. Catherine Municipal Corporation.

The PNP was represented in court by Attorney-At-law and Opposition Senator, Sophia Frazer-Binns.

Senator Frazer-Binns says the PNP had always held its ground on the case the JLP put forward.

Senator Frazer-Binns says the Opposition is satisfied with the Supreme Court’s decision.

Meanwhile, attorney for JLP’s candidate’s Kelvin Clarke, Georgia Hamilton, says she does not see the Supreme Court’s decision as a loss for her client.

Clarke was the JLP’s candidate in the Kintyre Division.

Mrs. Hamilton says instances of the matter in other countries were taken into consideration.
