Jamaica will participate in the Mr World competition for the first time in more than 25 years with the crowning of Tarique Barrett.
Barrett was crowned on Sunday night by Dahlia Harris, co-franchise holder of the Miss Jamaica World and Mr World Jamaica beauty pageants.
He is a student at The University of the West Indies, where he is pursuing a double major in marketing and accounting.

Electronics Engineer Tavar Brown was the first runner-up and Digital Marketing Specialist Dario Lopez, was the second runner-up.
Model Keneil McLean and 2023 Digicel Rising Star Remone Watson rounded out the Top 5.
Barrett performed creditably during the competition, having topped the preliminary swimwear and extreme sports challenge competitions.
He will represent Jamaica in Vietnam in November.
Founded by the Miss World Organisation in 1996, the Mr World competition, “stands as the most distinguished and prestigious event of its kind globally”.
The current titleholder, Jack Heslewood, an aerospace engineer from England, was crowned on August 23, 2019.
Jamaica entered the competition in its first staging. Richard Nevers, then 20 years old, placed fourth. In 1998, Mr World Jamaica, Kinte Thelwell, also placed fourth.
This year marks the return of the competition, with its 11th edition taking place in Phan Thiet.
