Rising singer J’Calm is preparing to unveil his new EP. The yet-to-be titled project, which J’Calm describes as “a continuation of a story that is self-written, connected to, but definitely different from the Niche album” is set for release later this month.
“The EP is about themes that many young men in dancehall music don’t necessarily express through their lyrics,” J’Calm shared. “The project delves into matters of the heart – themes like soul ties, love, and lust.”
His sound has changed significantly, and so has his connection with his audience. “My sound has evolved beyond just being about my voice. It has evolved into becoming a connection. I think I’ve grown into a more soulful character. The Niche album has taught me a lot about myself and where I need to go. So it’s just a matter of learning about yourself more,” he reflected.
He hopes that listeners will connect with the stories he tells and find relatability and understanding within it.
“This new work is a deeply personal and introspective project. It will take listeners on an emotional journey through unexpected experiences as I share another chapter of my evolving story with the world,” J’Calm revealed.

He is keeping the title of the EP under wraps for now, but the emotion-filled project is preceded by the release of Distance, which is currently available for pre-save on all digital platforms
J’Calm is riding the wave of success of Niche, which was released in January. The 13-track début album included tracks such as Call My Name, Excited, Guilty, Mrs Danger, and Living Young.
Off that album, the 19-year-old got the opportunity to collaborate with global dancehall superstar Sean Paul.
Reflecting on the Sean Paul remix of Call My Name, J’Calm expressed his excitement and admiration for the legendary artiste.
“Honestly, working with Sean Paul on this track has been an amazing experience. I was star-struck, but I learnt a lot just by being around him. It was also an informative experience,” J’Calm shared. “Sean is a persistent performer. He has a certain level of work ethic that’s unmatched. He has told me of past experiences about working in the music industry, which gives me a different perspective on the entire game.”
J’Calm believes that the collaboration, which has surpassed five million streams, has the potential to make a significant impact on his career, considering the Dutty Rock Productions principal’s status as one of the biggest dancehall artiste globally. He sees it as a blessing to have worked with such an influential figure in the industry.
