President of Tennis Jamaica, John Azar, says it’s a welcome surprise to be hosting a Davis Cup encounter for the third time in three years.
Jamaica will play New Zealand in the Davis Cup Group-2 play-offs at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre, from January 31 to February 2, 2025.
After losing to Barbados in the World Group II Playoffs earlier this year, Jamaica benefited from a restructuring of the tournament.
This resulted in the country receiving a fourth qualifying spot to the Americas region.
Azar says the plan to make good use of the opportunity.
He says Jamaica will have an advantage playing at home.
