Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced three appointments to the senate, including senior Jamaica Labour Party spokesman Marlon Marlon.
The announcement was made in a statement on Wednesday night.
The other two appointees are medical doctor, Elon Thompson, and senior communication strategist in the tourism ministry, Delano Seiveright.
Their appointments follow the resignation of King’s Counsel Ransford Braham and Delroy Williams from the Upper House.
In a statement, Prime Minister Holness noted that consequent to the resignation of Senators Matthew Samuda, Delroy Williams and Ransford Braham, he has written to Sir Patrick recommending the appointment of Thompson, Morgan and Seiveright to the senate.
Elon Thompson is a medical doctor by profession with specialisation in the field of urology.
He’s employed to the South East Regional Health Authority and leads the recently started urology service at the Spanish Town Hospital. He also practices privately in Kingston, Portmore and Mandeville.
He served as president of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association from 2016 to 2020.
He is a member of the Jamaica Urological Society, Caribbean Urological Association, American Urological Association and Association of Surgeons in Jamaica.
Morgan is a communications specialist with over 15 years of experience at the senior executive level in shaping public policy. He is also a professionally accredited director with considerable expertise in corporate governance, public procurement and public bodies management and accountability.
Seiveright is a strategist, public policy expert, and advocate with extensive experience in governance, tourism development, corporate communications, and stakeholder engagement.
As senior advisor and strategist to Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, Seiveright plays a pivotal role in expanding and modernising Jamaica’s tourism sector, which has become a key pillar of the nation’s economy.
