Thousand of Digicel customers were left without service due to what the company says are multiple major fibre breaks.

Digicel says the issue impacted both home and mobile data services.

The chief executive officer, CEO, of Digicel, Stephen Murad, says the problems arose after vandals cut through fibre cables.

According to Murad, Digicel was alerted to the issue at about 5 am on Tuesday. He says the vandalism was done in Kingston.

Murad says teams have been busy working to restore connection. He says full service is due to be restored by 2 Tuesday afternoon.

Up to news time Murad said service was restored to Digicel customers.
