There were three Jamaican winners at today’s World Athletics Continental Silver Tour meeting at the Stadio Della Quercia in Italy.
Olympic finalist Orlando Bennett won the 110m high hurdles in 13.45 seconds in a photo finish over Cordell Tinch of the United States who was second in 13.46
Former national champion Stephanie-Ann McPherson ran a season best 50.65 seconds to win the women’s 400m as Stacey-Ann Williams finished fifth in 51.12 seconds
The third Jamaican win came in the women’s 100m where Sasha Lee Forbes logged 11.17 seconds to beat the meet record holder Natasha Morrison in to second in 11.22 seconds
Yanique Thompson had to settle for fourth in the 100m hurdles in 13.15 seconds, victory went to Great Britain’s Cindy Sember in 12.89
Romaine Beckford’s breakout season continues apace, he was second in the men’s high jump with 2.26m, beaten by the local favourite and world champion Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy 2.29m
Former national champion Rohan Watson clocked 10.34 seconds for seventh in the men’s 100m with Michael Campbell 8th in 10.45 seconds
