The defamation claim brought against PNP General, Dr. Dayton Campbell, by West Portland MP Daryl Vaz will go to trial in July next year.

That’s according to orders handed down in the Supreme Court on Thursday.

The court also ordered that the parties commence and conclude mediation by the end of May this year.

Vaz has claimed the PNP General Secretary defamed him at a political meeting in July 2023.

The West Portland MP has vowed that he will be relentless in pursuing the claims against Campbell.

He says gutter politics has crept back intothe society, and he is determined to put an end to what he describes as politically crafted lies and a national smear campaign.

Vaz says while speech is free, defamation is expensive.

The PNP General Secretary is also facing another defamation suit filed by Othniel Lawrence and MP for West St. Thomas, James Robertson.
