SENSATIONAL MOVE appears too good to be true in Saturday’s overnight allowance at five furlongs straight after being caught at six furlongs by Canadian ATLANTIC CONVOY on August 17.
Seemingly having all the boxes ticked for a return to the winners’ enclosure, SENSATIONAL MOVE’s last victory was out the five-straight chute, upstaging stablemate DESERT OF MALIBU, who reared at the start.
Breaking from post-position three at odds of 8-1, SENSATIONAL MOVE also accounted for the likes of course-specialist EMPEROROFTHECATS, American speedster, MADELYN’S SUNSHINE, and YELLOWSTONE, among others.
Confirming his rapid improvement, having clocked 1:11.3 at six furlongs last December and 1:05.4 at five and a half late January, SENSATIONAL MOVE’s shock win at five furlongs straight among open-allowance runners in February was followed by creditable performances against Jason DaCosta’s importees, I AM FRED and IS THAT A FACT.
Clearly second-best behind ATLANTIC CONVOY on last, from any angle the form book is read, SENSATIONAL MOVE jumps off the page as a winner.
However, topweight at five furlongs straight can be a tricky affair even with the track bias in SENSATIONAL MOVE’s favour, drawn seventh of eight runners, with only off-colour FREEDOM STREET between him and the outer rail.
Runners such as A GIFT FROM BEN and back-to-form GENERATIONAL are speedy enough to keep SENSATIONAL MOVE honest for at least the first four furlongs, a speed battle that could lead to a collapsing pace.
Though everything points to SENSATIONAL MOVE, MONEY MONSTER, improved MILOS and TAURUS BOY are dangerous closers should the speedsters run themselves into the ground.
SENSATIONAL MOVE makes for an enticing banker, but invest in insurance runners in case the market crashes.
