Health and wellness minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, says former prime minister, PJ Patterson, has seemingly forgotten the state that the country’s health sector was in under his leadership.

Dr. Tufton was responding to a scathing assessment of the health sector delivered by Mr. Patterson last week.

Shaloy Smikle reports.

Former Prime Minister Patterson offered sharp criticisms of the Holness administration’s management of the island’s road network and health system, among other areas.

According to Mr. Patterson, the current health sector is bordering on complete failure.

But health minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, says the former prime minister’s views are clouded in partisanship.

The former prime minister also took aim at the delays at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James. Dr. Tufton says Mr. Patterson failed to add context to the work being done on the hospital.

Dr. Tufton says despite the delays at the hospital, the country’s health sector has vastly improved under the Holness administration.

Meanwhile, Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, general secretary, Dr. Horace Chang, says the use of PJ Patterson to attack the Holness Administration indicates that the People’s National Party are in trouble.

Dr. Chang, who’s also national security minister, says the opposition has not offered any new proposal on how they would improve the country should they form the next government.
