Two Killed at Candlelight Vigil in Mandeville

The Manchester division has registered two more homicides following an incident at a candlelight vigil in Mandeville early on Sunday morning.

Its understood a dispute developed between a licensed firearm holder and several other people at the vigil.

The man reportedly parked his car in an open lot next to his premises, when a car driven by a man who was leaving the vigil hit his vehicle. The two began arguing and others joined in.

The licensed firearm holder reportedly pulled his gun and fired several times, hitting five people, including a 12-year-old. Two women succumbed to the injuries while the others were admitted for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Aldeen Dixon, a resident of Coleyville district in Northeast Manchester and 42-year-old Stacy Ann Mulgrave, a resident of Barnstable district near Mandeville.

The suspect turned himself in to the police. It’s not immediately clear whether he remains in custody.

Member of Parliament, MP, for Central Manchester, Rhoda Moy Crawford, says the incident now brings to three, the number of murders recorded in the parish since January 1.

MP Crawford is urging residents to adopt more constructive ways of resolving conflicts.
