The U20 Reggae Girlz will be looking to add yet another dominant win under their belts in a fight for group supremacy when they face off against St Kitts and Nevis today in their second match of the Concacaf Women’s U20 Qualifiers.
The match is set to kick off at the National Football Stadium in Managua, Nicaragua.
It is the first game of a doubleheader with hosts Nicaragua taking on St Vincent and the Grenadines in the second encounter.
The U20 Girlz will enter the fixture as heavy favourites after their dominant 7-0 opening win against St Vincent on Thursday.
Jamaica had thumped their Caribbean neighbours in a first-half blitz. They scored six goals in the first half and added another in the second.
Alyssa Stephenson was the star of the show on the day as her hat trick saw her leading the team’s goalscoring efforts.
Another confidence boost for the young Girlz heading into the encounter will be their favourable history against today’s opponents.
The Jamaicans have faced St Kitts four times in the competition’s history, winning all four games with an aggregate score of 29-0.
Their first meeting came in 2006 where Jamaica ran out 7-0 winners before a second encounter in 2010 where Jamaica won 2-0.
Their next meeting in 2014 was the biggest margin of victory for the young Reggae Girlz, an 11-0 battering which was followed up by a 9-0 win in 2018.
The U20 Girlz will be hoping they can continue that trend as they look to increase their goal difference ahead of their final game against Nicaragua.
Jamaica currently sit second in Group D with three points as Nicaragua hold a greater goal difference.
For St Kitts, the game will be an uphill battle as they seek to recover from their opening 8-0 loss against Nicaragua.
The Sugar Girlz, as they are known by their fans, were put to the sword by the Central Americans early in the contest, conceding three times in the first 20 minutes.
The ending was as frantic as the beginning as St Kitts also conceded four goals in the final 15 minutes of the match.
Jamaica will take on St Kitts at 4 p.m. (Jamaica time) with Nicaragua to take on St Vincent at 7 p.m.
