WI Championship: Blackwood Scores Century for Scorpions

Former captain Jermaine Blackwood cracked an undefeated century to steer the Jamaica Scorpions to 291 for 7 at close on day one of the new season of the West Indies four day championship encounter at Arnos Vale in St. Vincent.

Blackwood belted nine fours in his 198 ball vigil so far.

Captain John Campbell set the tone with a quickfire 79 off 91 balls with 9 fours and three sixes.

Wicketkeeper Daniel Beckford 39 was only other batter to get out of the teens with Kirk McKenzie going for 1 and Carlos Brown 12.

Daryl Cyrus bagged 2 for 26.

At Providence Barbados Pride piled up 346 all out against champions the Guyana Harpy Eagles.

Matthew Forde 82, Jonathon Drakes 70, Zachary McKaskie 64 and Chiam Holder 35 were the leading scorers as Richie Looknauth claimed 4 for 69.

At the Brian Lara Stadium the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force were 171 for 2 against the Combined Campuses and Colleges team.

Cephas Copper 80 and Vikash Mohan 66, put on 139 for the first wicket.

While the Leeward Islands Hurricanes closed on 290 for 6 against the West Indies Academy at Coolidge.

Jahmar Hamilton was unbeaten on 67 and Karima Gore made 59.
