The West Indies opened their tour of Sri Lanka with a five-wicket win over the hosts in the first of three T20 Internationals at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Sunday.
Batting first, Sri Lanka made 179 for 7 off their 20 overs. Captain Charith Asalanka made 59 and Kamindu Mendis, 51.
Romario Shepherd picked up two wickets for the Windies.
Chasing 180 to win, the Caribbean men reached the target with five balls to spare. Brandon King led the batting with 63 and Evin Lewis made 50.
Matheesha Pathirana bagged two wickets for the hosts.
Final scores Sri Lanka 179 for 7, West Indies 180 for 5.
Game tw0 is set for the same venue on Thursday.
