Two cabinet ministers seen as leading contenders to replace Dr. Nigel Clarke, as finance minister have been guarded about their potential elevation to the second most powerful post in the government.
Speculation is mounting that Prime Minster Andrew Holness may look to Education Minister Fayval Williams or Information Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon to take control of the country’s finances.
In 2018, Mrs. Williams was the first woman to serve as minister without portfolio in the finance ministry. She also served as state minister under Dr. Clarke and his predecessor Audley Shaw.
Asked about her possible elevation, Williams declined to comment.
