State minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, Franklin Witter, is dismissing claims by Opposition Spokesman on Agriculture, Dr. Dayton Campbell, that farmers in St. Elizabeth have not received relief following the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
Dr. Campbell made the assertion while speaking at a political meeting in South East St. Elizabeth on the weekend.
Robian Williams reports.
These were the comments made by Dr. Dayton Campbell.
In response, state minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, Franklin Witter described Dr. Campbell’s remarks as desperate, misguided, and misleading.
According to Mr. Witter, further support is being provided to 83 greenhouse farmers with materials such as plastic to aid in their recovery this month.
He noted that the positive impact of these efforts is already being seen.
Mr. Witter also criticised Dr. Campbell for undermining the hard work of RADA officers. He urged Dr. Campbell to keep politics out of agriculture, emphasising that the sector’s recovery is a priority.
