Works Minister Defends Contractors, Public Servants Amid Golding’s Cronyism Claim

4 months ago 37

Minister with responsibility for works, Robert Morgan, has accused opposition leader, Mark Golding, of suggesting that Jamaican contractors and public servants who administer the procurement process, are involved in corruption.

He was reacting to comments made by the opposition leader at a recent People’s National Party, PNP, meeting in East Rural St. Andrew.

Mahiri Stewart has that story.

This is the comment that has drawn the ire of the works minister.

But Robert Morgan says despite the claims of the opposition leader, the Holness administration has never been accused of any wrongdoing by any anti-corruption body where road works are concerned.

Minister Morgan says Golding should apologise to hard working public servants who administer the public procurement process.

Meanwhile, Minister Morgan says unlike the PNP, the Holness administration is able to undertake extensive road repair projects without the need for loans.
