Daniel Wright advanced to Friday’s final of the men’s 400-metres hurdles at the World Athletics Under 20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
Wright booked his place in the final after winning heat-2 in 51.42 seconds, while is teammate Trevoy Smith failed to advance after finishing fourth in heat-6 in 52.15 seconds in the morning.
In the women’s race, Kelly-Ann Carr posted 1:00.61 to qualify for the final. However, Deschamique Douglas did not advance after finishing ninth.
Shanque Williams will be Jamaica’s lone representative in the final of the women 400-metres after finishing third in 54.22 seconds in heat-6. Abrina did not get out of the heats after finishing sixth in heat-3.
National junior record holder Alana Reid will contest the girls 100 metres final late in the evening session while Gary Card and Deadre Daley will run in the boys final at 6:50 pm.
Jabari Mattheson finished fifth his first round heat of the boys 400 metres in 49.34 seconds and failed to advance.
Better luck though Kimarrio Bygrave who logged 47.49 seconds for third in his heat and grabbed an automatic spot to the semi-finals.
