One of the best ways to thrive in this digital era is to be an early adopter of the latest technology, and profiting from ChatGPT is a fine example.
However, even in advanced countries, only 30 per cent of people are considered strong adopters of new technology. Therefore, while millions of people have already found ways to maximise the free version of Open AI’s viral chatbot, which has taken the world by storm since its unveiling in November 2022, the average person may not even have heard of it.
As a transformational speaker, trainer, and business coach, I have had the unique opportunity to meet and engage with hundreds of people in my professional capacity since January 2023. I have taken the opportunity to ask scores of Jamaicans about their understanding of ChatGPT, and unfortunately, 99 per cent of them had never heard of it prior to our discussion.

Although It is still in its testing phase, and there are concerns about the accuracy, biases, and relevance of the output of some advanced AI tools, Jamaicans can and should try to profit from ChatGPT now.
Here are five ways to do it, and hopefully, avoid being left behind in this revolutionary phase of digital transformation.
1. You can launch gigs in online marketplaces for digital and freelance services, which can open up a new income stream before the end of this week. Some of the best sites for lucrative gig jobs are Upwork, People Per Hour, Fiverr, Flex jobs, and Freelancer.
Let’s take for example Fiverr, which is one of the largest platforms connecting global sellers of digital services to eager buyers and already has almost 1,700 gigs related to ChatGPT.
What I found most surprising is how many people were able to profit from the most basic services, including simply setting up an account with ChatGPT in a matter of minutes. The more savvy AI-versed freelancers are charging upwards of US$500 to create ChatGPT models.
If readers need inspiration for potential services offerings, then simply scroll a few of these gig sites, and search for ‘ChatGPT’, then sort the results by top selling and most relevant to learn what is in high demand. If you lack the skills to execute the services, then hop over to YouTube or Coursera and watch videos that will teach you how to do it.
2. You can tutor or teach people how to use ChatGPT. There are millions of people who learn best not by reading an article or watching a video, but with individual, one-on-one support. Once you take the time to learn and master, as best as possible, this new AI tool, you could offer online tutoring on popular platforms like Tutor Me, Chegg, E-Tutor World, Tutor.com, Smart Thinking, and so on.
3. Another immediate possibility for a new income stream is to offer consulting services if you have expertise in conversational AI such as ChatGPT and other natural language processing tools. There are many businesses, organisations, non-profits even churches that could implement and optimise their use of advanced AI to improve performance, productivity, efficiency, save money, create new income streams, and more.
4. One of the most in-demand services right now is the development of chat bots to support customer service, customer engagement, and create experiences for the customer that will deepen their relationship with and affinity for the businesses that serve them. You can utilise the knowledge and insights you gain from working with ChatGPT to quickly develop chatbots for businesses and train their teams in how to maximise their implementation.
5. Perhaps the easiest way to profit from ChatGPT is using it to churn out large volumes of content. This can be done for social-media management and strategy. You can create social media posts, blog content, articles, stories, and even books, which may be sold or licensed. The possibilities when it comes to content are wide and expensive.
While most of us do not own, create, or have the ability to monetise AI tools as inventors, or owners or investors, there are still red-hot opportunities to profit from ChatGPT.
The best time to strike was yesterday. The second-best time is now. You can use advanced AI tools to quickly expand your productive capacity exponentially, particularly if operators of service-based businesses in varying industries.
