FOLLOWING HIS third-place finish a week ago at the Xiamen Diamond League, Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake returns to China to contest the second leg of the Wanda Shanghai/Suzhou Diamond League today.
Blake, one of 10 Jamaicans slated for the meet, will go up against the American duo of Christian Coleman and Fred Kerley who were first and second respectively in the 100m at the Xiamen meet. Blake will be joined by Rohan Watson in the event which will start at 6:18 a.m. Jamaica time.
Stephenie Ann McPherson will be the first Jamaican in action on the track as she will contest the 400 metres at 6:04 a.m. Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins here.
World Championships 100m hurdles champion Danielle Williams will be hoping to improve on her fourth-place finish in the event a week ago when she faces the start here. Megan Tapper will also be looking to improve on last week’s eighth-place finish.
After a sluggish start to his season where he ended sixth last week, Tokyo Olympics 110m hurdles champion Hansle Parchment will be hoping for improvement when he contests the event at 7:03 a.m.
Four Jamaicans will be involved in field event action with Danniel Thomas Dodd to contest the women’s shot put at 5:20 a.m., Christoffe Bryan in the men’s high jump at 5:35 a.m. and Carey McLeod and Tajay Gayle competing in the long jump at 6:39 a.m.
