Nine local based players have been selected in Jamaica’s senior men’s football squad for the preliminary round two-leg tie of the Concacaf Gold Cup against St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Game one is set for the Arnos Vale Stadium on March 21, before the return leg on March 25 at Sabina Park.

Coach of the Reggae Boyz, Steve McClaren, says he was impressed with the players after their performance in the recent friendly matches against Trtinidad and Tobago.

The last time Jamaica played St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the senior level was in June 2008 in Kingston and Jamaica won the game 5-1.

However, McClaren says that doesn’t guarantee victory.

He says he would love to have the fan support for the national team that he say for the Concacf Champions Cup Thursday night.
