Opposition Spokesperson for Foreign and Regional Affairs, Dr. Angela Brown Burke, says parliamentarians should take a more active role in guiding Jamaica’s foreign policy.
Dr. Brown-Burke is calling for more responsiveness from Parliamentary Committees in analysing foreign affairs.
Dr. Brown-Burke was making her contribution to the Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
The opposition spokesperson also called for a reviving of the various parliamentary friendship groups to give Jamaicans more say in foreign affairs.
A parliamentary friendship group is intended to provide a non-partisan forum for senators and members to meet and interact with each other, and relevant stakeholders, on matters relating to foreign policy.
