Vere Technical High’s Ashara Frater booked her spot in the Class Two girls’ 1,500 metres final as the only athlete to break the five-minute barrier at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium this morning.
Frater won the first semi-final in a time of 4:49.55 minutes, ahead of Edwin Allen High’s Horecia Love and Holmwood Technical’s Andrene Peart.
Peart’s teammate, Jovi Rose, was the pick of the lot in semi-final two, crossing the line in 5:04.58 minutes, ahead of St. Jago High’s Kededra Coombs and Denbigh High’s Natalia Gayle.
The others through to the final are Bellefield High’s Rhodonna Prince, Petersfield High’s Serina Hibbert, Hydel High’s Shania Grant, St. Catherine High’s Ameia Samuels and Camperdown High’s Jennifer Byass.
