Public commentator and chartered accountant, Dennis Chung, says the launch of the government’s SPARK Programme will benefit Jamaica’s economy.
The road repair programme was officially launched last week.
Mahiri Stewart has that story.
The government’s Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to our Road Network, SPARK, programme was officially launched in east Kingston last Monday.
The $45 billion programme will see ten roads in each of Jamaica’s 63 constituencies be repaired over the next two years.
Dennis Chung believes the programme’s launch will boost Jamaica’s economy.
The prime minister first announced SPARK during his budget debate in 2023. It was originally slated to begin last October.
Mr. Chung says assuming the road repairs are carried out effectively, it could see the government gain favour from the public.
He believes the repair of troublesome main roads will also increase productivity even as it improves the daily lives of many Jamaicans.
