Commentators Urge Public Not to Compare Fayval Williams to Nigel Clarke

At least two public commentators say Jamaicans should not compare Finance Minister Fayval Williams, with her immediate predecessor, Dr. Nigel Clarke.

Minister Williams is due to make her maiden presentation in the budget debate on Tuesday afternoon.

Dr. Clarke made most of his budget speeches into must watch television, through his use of visual aids and his clever responses to barbs from the Opposition benches.

Immediate past-president of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise, MSME Alliance, Donovan Wignall, believes Minister Williams will be strong on message even if her style of delivery is different.

And on the matter of productivity, Wignall says more needs to be done to incentivise industries to produce more.

Wignall says he also expects Minister Williams to prioritise public procurement in her maiden budget presentation.
