Opposition Leader Mark Golding says the governing Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, is on a mission to distract Jamaicans from what he considers to be problems that are plaguing the country.
The PNP president was speaking at the Papine divisional conference held on the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies on Saturday.
Mahiri Stewart reports.
The Opposition leader has been the subject of several ongoing debates surrounding his dual citizenship. Mark Golding is a Jamaican citizen by birth and a UK citizen by descent.
Speaking at a party conference on Saturday, Mr. Golding reiterated that he not only had a commitment to Jamaica, but also a family legacy.
Mr. Golding posited that members of the JLP are attempting to deflect from important issues facing society.
Mr. Golding then turned his attention to Prime Minister Andrew Holness’s outstanding statutory declarations. He says the fact that Mr. Holness’ statutory declarations have not been certified by the Integrity Commission should disqualify him as prime minister.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for South East St. Andrew, Julian Robinson, told comrades that victory is in sight, as he urged them to keep focus.
Mr. Robinson says the JLP’s focus on Mark Golding’s citizenship proves they are out of ideas and desperate.
