Government senator, Don Wehby has resigned from the senate.
The resignation is effective today, Thursday, November 7, 2024.
GraceKennedy announced the move in a statement issued on Thursday morning. Wehby is the CEO of the company.
Former senator Wehby’s resignation from the Upper House follows his temporary leave of absence from GraceKennedy for health reasons.
The company says Mr Wehby, in a letter to Prime Minister Andrew Holness, conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the administration.
Reflecting on his time in the senate, Mr Wehby says his tenure has been a deeply fulfilling experience.
He says it has been an honour to contribute to the nation’s progress and one of the greatest honours of his life.
Mr Wehby also shared his hopes for a unified approach by the government, opposition, and private sector in addressing Jamaica’s national challenges.
He also reaffirmed his dedication to Jamaica and his full support in any way that might further the nation’s interests.
Mr Wehby was appointed to the Upper House in September 2007 and was seconded to the Ministry of Finance and The Public Service as minister without portfolio for two years.
