Former People’s National Party, PNP, caretaker for East Portland, Colin Bell, says his resignation does not signal the end of the road for him in representational politics.
Bell withdrew from his role as PNP caretaker on Saturday. He was a guest on Nationwide at Five on Monday.
Bell’s sudden decision to quit has reportedly caused a rift among comrades in the constituency. But he says he stepped aside to give the PNP a better chance of taking East Portland back from the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP.

Bell’s political fortunes suffered a setback in the February 26 local government election. He lost by 135 votes to JLP newcomer Shanique Green in the Fellowship division.
The PNP is expected to announce his replacement at the party’s annual conference on Sunday.
