Chief executive officer. CEO, of Premier League Jamaica Limited, PFJL, Owen Hill says the move to extend the upcoming season to 39 regular season games per team is largely to give the local players more visibilty.
The 2024/25 season which kicks off this weekend, was officially launched on Tuesday night at the New Kingston’s offices of title sponsors Wray and Nephew.
The last three seasons of the league was played over two regular season rounds before the playoffs.
However, Hill told Nationwide Sports at the launch, that returning to the three rounds was just the correct thing to do and is in line with international best practices.
Hill says it’s the intention of the PFJL to have every team going back to play on their home field once they meet the requirement.
Hill says everything is in place for Sunday’s start of the league which will feature a double header at the Tony Spaulding Complex.
