Fayval Williams Set to Make Historic Budget Presentation

Today is budget day!

And for the first time in the history of the country, both the opening and closing presentations in the budget will be made by a woman, Fayval Williams.

She’s the second-term member of parliament for Eastern St. Andrew. Williams is a chartered financial analyst, CFA, by profession.

The country’s first female Minister of Finance and the Public Service is expected to open the Budget Debate for the 2025-26 fiscal year in the House of Representatives just after 2 on Tuesday afternoon.

In her presentation, she’s expected to inform the nation how the government will fund the $1.26 trillion budget for the new fiscal year.

Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Julian Robinson, is expected to make his presentation on Thursday, March 13. Opposition Leader Mark Golding will speak on Tuesday, March 18.

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness will make his contribution to the debate on Thursday, March 20.

Minister Williams will then close the debate on Tuesday, March 25.
