Opposition leader Mark Golding has unveiled an initiative which he says aligns with the values and policies of former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller.
Speaking at the public session of the People’s National Party’s, PNP, annual conference on Sunday, Golding says his government will implement the PORTIA initiative when his party is next in government.
Tauna Thomas tells us more.
Mr. Golding says the programme promises to focus on infrastructure development and poverty alleviation, in line with the vision and mission of Mrs. Simpson Miller.
The PNP dedicated a significant portion of its conference to honouring Mrs. Simpson Miller.
It highlighted her journey from humble beginnings to the highest political office in the land and her commitment to improving the lives of the underprivileged.
Mr. Golding says the PORTIA Initiative will burnish Simpson Miller’s legacy.
Mrs. Simpson Miller has been out of the public eye since her retirement due to significant health issues.
Golding says he’s confident the initiative would get her full endorsement.
