President of the People’s National Party, Mark Golding, says he’s instructed his attorneys to sue Member of Parliament for Central St James, Heroy Clarke, for defamation.
Mr. Golding made the revelation in a social media post Thursday morning.
“My lawyers have been instructed to proceed with filing suit against Heroy Clarke for defamation. Justice will be done,” wrote Mr Golding on X.
The move to proceed with a lawsuit against Mr Clarke, who’s also the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, comes after attorneys representing Mr Golding, wrote to Clarke last Friday.
In the letter, the attorneys demanded an apology from Mr Clarke following comments he allegedly made in a WhatsApp group.
The letter also demanded Mr Clarke not cause any defamatory statements to be spread about Mr Golding and it demanded Mr Clarke enter into negotiations to determine a sum for damages.
Mr Clarke was given until 4 pm on Monday to respond.
