Gov’t to Lower Tax on Residential Electricity Starting May 1

The government’s plan to cut the general consumption tax on electricity bills for residential customers is set to take effect on May 1.

Finance Minister Fayval Williams made the announcement in her maiden budget presentation.

Prime Minister, Dr. Andrew Holness, announced the cut last November during the Jamaica Labour Party’s annual conference.

Minister Williams also announced a rebate for some postpaid residential JPS customers.
