HOLMWOOD TECHNICAL and Manchester high schools stole the spotlight at Friday’s ISSA Rural netball rally played at Manchester High’s netball court.
Playing at home, the Simone Smith girls came out on top among under-16 teams with a 6-1 win over Holmwood Technical. Holmwood turn the tables in the under-19 division, getting by Manchester 9-7.
Manchester easily advanced to the junior final with a big 9-0 win over Bishop Gibson High, while Holmwood had to fight off a gallant Mile Gully in their semi-final encounter, eventually coming away with a 7-6 win.
The Carlene Powell-Graham-coached Holmwood senior team, all-island defending champions, showed readiness for another successful season.
In their semi-final encounter, they dispatched Maggotty 10-2. Manchester also had a convincing 13-0 win over Bishop Gibson High School in their semi-final.
Competition in the ISSA Rural competition will get under way on Wednesday.
