THE Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) has taken swift and strong action against three Dinthill Technical High School footballers following an incident involving match officials at the end of a daCosta Cup match against McGrath High School on Saturday, September 21.
In a release yesterday, after a meeting of its disciplinary committee, ISSA said Maalick Whyte and Shamair Hutchinson have been banned from participating in any ISSA competition for one year effective September 26, 2024. A third player, Tyrese Gowe, has been suspended for three daCosta Cup games effective September 26, 2024.
In addition, Dinthill Technical was placed on a three-year probation and could be suspended from participating in ISSA competitions if there are any further breaches of the disciplinary code of conduct within the period of probation.
The governing body shared that they are committed to ensuring that all rules are adhered to and the actions of the student athletes were unacceptable.
“The Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association reminds all its various stakeholders that we are committed to ensuring that all our student-athletes display the requisite decorum befitting their status as ambassadors of our schools and the various competitions in which they compete. We strongly condemn any acts of indiscipline and more so acts of physical aggression and/or assault on any match official,” the press release stated.

McGrath also have seven points, but Dinthill have a superior goal difference. Dinthill have scored 19 goals with one against, while McGrath have scored eight and conceded two.
