It’s nomination day for the four by-elections announced by Prime Minister Andrew Holness last week.
Presumptive candidates are expected to submit their nominations for the parliamentary by-elections in the constituencies of North West St. Andrew and South Trelawny.
The governing Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, is expected to field Duane Smith for North West St. Andrew. In South Trelawny, the party is set to field Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert.
The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, says it will not contest the parliamentary by-elections.
It will, however, contest the municipal corporation polls, as nominations are also expected in the Aenon Town Division in Clarendon and the Morant Bay Division in St Thomas.
In Aenon Town, the PNP’s Delroy Dawson and the JLP’s Suzzette Barton are set to do battle.
Meanwhile, in the Morant Bay Division, the JLP is expected to field Winston Downe, while the PNP is set to put up Rose Marie Shaw.
All four by-elections are set for November 22.
