Jamaica Suffers First Defeat in CG United Women’s Super50 Cup

Champions elect Jamaica suffered their first defeat of the season going down by 5-wickets via the Duckworth Lewis Stern method against Guyana in the CG United Women’s Super50 Cup at St. Paul’s in St. Kitts, today.

Batting first, the Jamaicans who started as favourites were bowled out for 71.

Rashada Williams 31 and Chadean Nation 20 were the only two Jamaican players who managed to get into double figures.

Ashmini Munisar bagged 3 for 11 for Guyana.

Set a target of 74 for 44 overs, Guyana raced to victory inside 18 overs.

Mandy Mangru made 24 and Shemaine Campbelle 21.

Final scores, Jamaica 71, Guyana 74 for 5

Meanwhile, Windward Islands beat defending champions Barbados by 44-runs at Conaree Sports Club.

Chasing 234 to win, Barbados made 189 for 9 off their 50 overs.

Captain Kycia Knight made 64 and Aaliyah Alleyne 49 not out.

Earlier, the Windwards made 233 for 9.

Afy Fletcher made 72, and Namiah Marcellin 30.

Shamilia Connell took 4-wickets for Barbados.

Over at Warner Park, Trinidad and Tobago beat the Leeward Islands by 4-wickets.

Batting first, the Leeward Islands were bowled out for 151, with Reniece Boyce to scoring with 48.

Caneisha Isaac took three wickets for T-and-T.

In reply, Trinidad and Tobago made 152 for 6, with Lee-Ann Kirby making 48.

Amanda Edwards bagged three wicket for Leeward Islands.
