President of the Jamaica Football Federation, JFF, Michael Ricketts has told Nationwide Sports that the federation will be seeking audience with national player, Leon Bailey.
The Aston Villa star man said in an interview on the Let’s Be Honest podcast a few weeks ago, that he was taking a break from international football because it was taking a toll on him.
Bailey was speaking days after he was dropped from the Jamaica team ahead of the Concacaf Nations League semi-final against the United States for breaking curfew.
Bailey also questioned the professionalism of the federation, pointing to a raft of issues which he said have left him frustrated.
But Ricketts told Nationwide Sports that he believes Bailey’s comments were made in the heat of the moment and that he may now have a different view about taking a temporary break from the national programme.
Ricketts says Bailey is a very important part of the national set-up and with the Copa America and World Cup Qualifiers on the horizon, his influence will be crucial.
