JLP Deputy General Secretary, Richard Creary, says the attempt by the PNP to distance itself from Damion Crawford’s General Consumption Tax proposal is not credible.
Senator Crawford, the Opposition Spokesman on Education, has proposed a one percentage point increase in GCT to fund improvements in the education sector.
But the PNP, in a statement on Wednesday, distanced itself from the proposal, saying the party has neither discussed nor contemplated the introduction of any additional or new taxes.
But, Mr. Creary says the PNP statement is questionable.
Mr. Creary says the PNP’s statement has served to make Senator Crawford’s position as Shadow Minister of Education untenable.
