Member of the Jamaica Labour Party’s, JLP, communications task force, Marlon Morgan, is reiterating the call for the People’s National Party’s Donovan Mitchell to resign as mayor of Mandeville and aspirant for the Manchester Central constituency.
The call for Mayor Mitchell to resign stemmed from last Thursday’s sitting of the Manchester Municipal Corporation.
At the meeting, councillor for the Craighead division, Omar Miller, sought to explain that some entertainment events in the parish are being funded by lottery scammers.
But, Mayor Mitchell told Councillor Miller to sit down as there’s nothing wrong with unexplained wealth.
Since his remark, there have been several calls for Mitchell to step down.
But on Sunday, the Mandeville mayor said at no point did he offer support for scamming, nor did he intend to convey such a message.
Mitchell said his response was a sarcastic jab aimed at the JLP’s current behaviour.
However, Mr. Morgan is doubling down on his call for the Mayor to demit office.
