Jamaica’s under-18 men’s football team will travel to Turkey on Friday for the UEFA Friendship tournament From April 22 -30.
The tournament is a new initiative aimed at creating opportunities for talented young players to gain additional experience playing international football against teams from different confederations.
This pilot under-18 men’s edition will bringing together eight national teams from five different confederations, namely AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and UEFA.
The Young Reggae Boyz are drawn in group “A” along with Mali, Saudi Arabia and hosts Turkey.
Group B consist of Ecuador, Guatemala, Morocco and Slovakia.
Jamaica play Saudi Arabia on April 22, Turkey on April 24 and Mali on April 27 with cross zone games being played on April 30.
The tournament will provide a unique opportunity for technical staff and players to grow both on and off the pitch.
They will experience different playing styles and cultures, be able to exchange knowledge, learn from each other, and make new friends from across the globe.
