Liverpool effectively booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League with a 5-1 hammering of Sparta Prague in the first leg of their round of 16 tie, today.
The job was good as done by half-time in Prague, after Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring inside six minutes from the penalty spot, and Darwin Nunez then fired in a superb brace before the break.
In other results, Roma beat Brighton 4-nil.
AC Milan beat Slavia Prague 4-2.
Rangers held Benfica to a 2-2 draw.
Frieburg edged West Ham 1-nil.
Marseille blanked Villarreal 4-nil.
And German leaders Bayern Leverkusen drew with Qarabag 2-2.
Meanwhile, former champions Cavalier will make a second attempt this week at regaining top spot in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League when they face another ex champion Arnett Gardens in a rescheduled game at the Tony Spaulding Complex this evening at 7.
Cavalier are currently in second place in the standings on 44 points, two behind leaders and champions Mount Pleasant Academy and a win would move them back to the summit with just five rounds to go in the regular season.
Arnett are currently on a three game winning streak and could further solidify their place in the top six.
