Molynes United eyeing change of fortune in JPL

Coach of Molynes United, Jermaine Thomas, believes that his team has been unfortunate in their opening two matches of the 2024-25 Jamaica Premier League season and has called for patience from supporters.

Molynes were beaten 3-1 by Vere Phoenix on September 22, and seven days later, were clipped 2-1 by Harbour View.

“The season will be a long one. In the two games that we have played, we created loads of chances and I think we dominated both games. We are creating good opportunities but haven’t been able to convert these chances. We’re going to be patient. We’re still confident as the team is still playing well,” he stated.

Tomorrow Molynes will entertain newcomers Chapelton Maroons, who suffered a 1-0 defeat in their previous encounter against Montego Bay United after conceding in the 90th minute. Coach Thomas’ Molynes have been working hard to solve their problems in the area of goal scoring during their last few training sessions.

“Yes, of course we have to get better. We have been creating chances, and no team has been able to stop us from creating them. Overall, the last few days, we’ve been focusing on our finishing, which is getting better in training. Therefore, I am hoping to get better results on upcoming match days,” he said.

Thomas said the JPL is highly competitive, and he expects both newcomers, Racing United and Chapelton Maroons, to be difficult to beat.

“If you look at Chapelton Maroons, they have returned, and their management now has the experience of being in the JPL before. Racing, the other newcomers, are from an area of the country (Portmore) that has produced good footballers. A number of players from the top Manning Cup and daCosta Cup teams are from that area. Therefore, they are feeding from a productive area,” Thomas said.
