World double sprint champion and super star Noah Lyles says though he represents the United States in major competitions, he does so with a heavy heart.
Lyles who won three gold medals at last year’s World Championships in Budapest, says being black in America there’s a lot to deal with and it’s hard to love a country that doesn’t love you.
The 26-year-old Lyles who’ll be shooting for four gold medals at this summer’s Paris Olympic games, did not go into details during an interview on Fox News, but says he considered retiring from track and field because of his experiences in the sport.
Lyles says at times he feels conflicted because when he goes on the track he gives his all everytime for the United States.
Last summer after his brilliant performances in Budapest, Lyles told a press conference that NBA players have no right calling themselves world champions when they only play among themselves in the United States.
A number of the league’s biggest stars including Kevin Durrant clapped back at the comment, but back to back MVP Giannis Antetokountpo supported Lyles statement.
