PNP Concerned About ‘Leaked’ IC Reports Before Tabling in Parliament

The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, says it’s concerned by what it says is the leak of information from Integrity Commission reports that have not yet been tabled in parliament.

Last Thursday, the Integrity Commission sent to parliament for tabling, a Report of Investigation, an Associated Indicative Ruling and a Full Ruling from the Director of Corruption Prosecution.

Then on Monday it sent a six-page witness statement to accompany the investigative report sent last Thursday, along with two other investigative reports.

PNP general secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, says given the profound national importance of this issue, it’s deeply concerning that Parliament has yet to be reconvened to formally table the report.

He says instead, information has been selectively leaked to a certain media outlet before it has been made available to the public or members of parliament.

Dr. Campbell says this reckless and opaque handling of such a critical matter is a gross violation of parliamentary protocol and the public’s trust.

The PNP general secretary says the prime minister and the Speaker of the House have an urgent duty to convene parliament and table the Integrity Commission’s report in full.
