The People’s National Party, PNP, is claiming that a report in the Jamaica Observer newspaper on Tuesday, that five PNP and three Jamaica Labour Party politicians have been reported to the Integrity Commission for illicit enrichment, is misleading.
The PNP says the article was published without attribution, filled with speculation, innuendo and unfounded allegations.
The Observer wrote that in almost all of the eight cases, the allegations have been made to the commission by people who claim to have information about acts of corruption/illicit enrichment.
The article says based on its probe, there is no documentation to support these allegations.
Opposition leader, Mark Golding, says this means these could’ve been concocted stories sent to the IC for partisan political reasons.
Mr. Golding is reiterating that all PNP parliamentarians have confirmed they’re unaware of being investigated by the commission for illicit enrichment.
