Associate Professor of Political Science and Policy Studies at Elon University, Dr. Damion Blake, says the Opposition People’s National Party, PNP, needs to present clear plans for Jamaica’s development if it intends to win the next general election.
His comment is in response to the latest Nationwide/Bluedot poll, powered by Total Tools, which shows the electorate sharply divided on whether the Andrew Holness-led Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, deserves a third term.
Dr. Blake says the PNP should capitalise on the political uncertainty by clearly articulating its vision for the country.
The Nationwide/Bluedot poll found that 50.1 per cent believe the government should be re-elected, while 49.9 per cent disagrees, essentially a dead heat of 50/50.
Pollsters interpret the results as a sign of a fluid political landscape, with both the JLP and PNP having an opportunity to sway undecided voters.
Dr. Blake notes that the Holness-administration still has significant work to do in convincing the electorate that it deserves another term in office.
